Vehicle Overview

Jaguar MKX Saloon for sale

I believe it’s accurate to say that the largest car ever produced by Jaguar is the Jaguar MK X. I recall seeing a brochure for this which read: “Grace, Pace and Space,” and I think those three words sum up the Jaguar MK X very well. The car is so wide that you can lie down and take a nap in both the front and back seats if you get tired during a long journey. The power from both the early 3.8L and later 4.2L engines is impressive, and even today, some 60 years later, these cars have no trouble keeping up with today's traffic. Just over 24,000 cars were produced, however it’s challenging today to find a MK X in good shape.

Exterior: Personally, I love green cars, so this “Opalescent Dark Green” is no exception. And to top this off, it even has green-tinted glass and a “Suede Green” leather interior. Although it is an older paintwork, possibly original, it remains in very healthy and beautiful condition. All chrome parts are in excellent shape, and pretty much every rubber detail, both on top of the car and underneath, has been replaced. The MK X looks just as impressive underneath as it does on top. Both the front and rear ends of the car have been dismantled and renovated. The bottom of the car was coated with new stone chip protective paint. Additionally, the Jaguar has a perfect ride height and has recently been fitted with four new Michelin XWX 205 VR14 tires.

Interior: Step inside the Jaguar MK X time capsule. Pretty much everything in here is original. The light green leather upholstery has a wonderful patina and remains exceptionally soft. With proper care, it will still last for many years to come. I cannot think of anything more precious than an original Jaguar leather interior. Pull-out tables are available in the back seat, and even the dark green headliner is in perfect condition. A long row of flip switches and instruments, all in full working order, can be found in the center of the dashboard. This car is equipped from the factory with power windows, with the controls located between the front seats. In the back, you have plenty of space for luggage, and you'll also find the original spare tire and tools in perfect condition there.

Engine and Mechanics: What makes this green Jaguar MKX 1966 special is that it is a very good original car that has been perfected first in terms of replacing every single part that wears out, such as rubber bushings and joints, over time. In the region of 2017-2018, it underwent a comprehensive restoration by a specialist in the U.K., resulting in the superb driving experience it offers today.

· Fitted with a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive by Graham Whitehouse Autos U.K., an operation that cost approximately €15,000. As a result, it dramatically lowers the RPM and fuel consumption, making higher speed cruising more comfortable. This is the ZF4HP 24 gerabox also used on XJ40 in the late eighties.

· Hardened valves allowing you to drive on unleaded fuel without using additives

· Installation of a new water pump, all radiator hoses and clamps along with an overhaul of heater unit

· Complete overhaul of both the front and rear suspension

· Full overhaul of the brake system, including the brake servo, with new hoses, pads etc.

· Installation of new engine mounts and many gaskets around the engine

· Bosch alternator and special light bulbs for improved visibility when driving at night

History: This 1966 Jaguar MK X was sold new to Frederick Backstrom, the executive vice president of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of New Haven. Mr. Backstrom purchased the Jaguar for his wife, but she never used it much. In 1974, the car was sold to Mr. Guy, who owned it until his passing in 2012. The car was kept in the family until 2016 when it was sold to Sweden. Most of the work done on the car was conducted between 2016-2018. It comes with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate and is a matching numbers car in its original colors. Included with the car are the original handbook, extensive documentation of the work carried out, and invoices for all recent maintenance and restoration work. The original counter showed 51,675 miles (82,680 km), and upon its arrival in Sweden, a new counter in km/h was installed. Today, it shows 7,500 km making the total travel of the car to 90,180 km!
